A sensational weekend at Shenington! Winning the English title!
Shenington SuperPrix
The biggest meeting of the year for the Shenington circuit, a 3 day event with not only the SuperPrix title up for grabs, but the desired ‘E’ plate for the winner which stands for English Champion. A full grid of Honda Cadets meant it was going to be a tough weekend.
Warm up/Practice
The practice sessions went really well, with the Project One chassis and RPM engine performing great – Josh was ready to get stuck into the races!
The Heats
The heat positions were to be determined by qualifying. Josh had a blistering quali session – setting 3 purple sectors and securing pole position by over 3 tenths (in karting terms, this is a lot!) A sensible first heat saw Josh and a fellow competitor work together to push away from the pack, a last lap move by the other driver saw Josh settle for 2nd place. Heat 2 was a similar story, but this time, Josh held the lead and defended well to take the victory!
A Final
The Final –
These results would put Josh on pole position for the final. Lots of pressure with every driver after the English plate but as the lights went out, Josh had his sights set on that win. He drove a fantastic race, leading every lap in the long 10 minute final in extremely hot conditions. An amazing achievement to win the E plate which he will now run on his kart for the rest of the season, and hope it will see many more wins!
