Looking at who has been with Josh since the start of his karting career all the way until now!
RSR – Kathleen Sore
Joshua has been karting for several years now, and has gone from Non-MSA all the way to British Championship level during his time in Honda Cadet. Since the start, Josh has had the support and guidance from Kath Sore. Josh first started running with team RSR during his Red Lodge days and then moved onto more circuits from there. It was at Red Lodge where Kath first saw Josh drive, she described her first impressions of him as “so little and absolutely fearless!”
Going to Kimbolton after competing at Red Lodge was a big step up at first. Kath and the RSR team which is ran by Kath’s father assisted Josh as he transitioned into Motorsport UK events. Kath speaks of his first race at Kimbolton; “he was just a little novice on a very competitive grid at the time. Learning from the other drivers and always beating his personal bests. Slowly over the months he worked his way up the grid.”
Kath and Josh have developed a great friendship which allows Josh to perform at his best with her advice and tips always giving him that extra confidence needed when racing at the top level. Kath ran Josh for a very long time, setting the kart up as well as coaching him. When speaking to Kath about her achievements with Josh, one particular race stands out for her; “my most memorable win with Josh was at Whilton Mill in April of this year, he drove the best I’d seen him drive and everything just came together that day.” This win has enabled Josh to be at the sharp end of the championship with him currently just 1 point behind the leader!
Throughout Josh’s move to Project One, he has still kept the support from Kath as she is often by his side at the circuits to offer encouragement and ensure he is in the best mindset to achieve. She expressed that she loves being able to work with and help Josh, and is very fond of his family too, “Andy’s (Josh’s Father) passion behind how supportive he is for Josh is unbelievable yet realistic at the same time. Secondly, Josh’s personality is priceless, a cheeky, clever, talented little boy who just wants to race! He has trusted me to set up his kart, listened to me and I could relate to how he was feeling before and after the races; which in-turn resulted in improvement in his driving. It’s just very rewarding watching him race.”
Since Kath has been apart of Josh’s karting, he has achieved many wins, podiums and fastest laps! It is almost certain, as Josh progresses through the ranks, Kath will be by his side, and she looks forward to him making the next steps in his racing career. “In the near future, I hope to see Josh moving up to a junior class that will challenge his driving, and I just know he’ll love the speed and how competitive it will be.”
