Joshua takes podium at Shenington
Shenington MSUK – Round 6
This weekend was going to be tough. A decent grid of 30 were in attendance. Thankfully it was going to be an awesome dry weekend! With Covid meaning this round was only a one day race, there was no testing yesterday we were sure we had the pace for a strong finish for the penultimate round of the season!
Warm up/Practice
As there was no testing yesterday. Our only practice was the EIGHT minute testing session before the heats. Thankfully this went well and we finished testing in 8th… 1st – 8th was separated by a measly 0.400 seconds! The heats were going to be awesome!
The Heats
Heat 1 – P11 > P9, managed to get up to P7, missed an apex and dropped two positions, fastest 3rd sector!
Heat 2 – P4 > P4, dropped to P9, made it back to P3, but was pipped on the line! Took fastest 1st sector AND fastest lap!
Heat 3 – P19 > P8, Starting near the back meant I need to knuckle down and make the moves. +11 position to cross the line P8, Fastest 2nd sector and 0.100 seconds off of the fastest on track!
A Final
A Final – P6 > P3, a bit of a rough start, dropping to P8. But, a strong middle section of the race saw me into 5th, with 2 laps left I made to overtake in the same lap and crossed the line in P3! Awesome racing and a mature drive to seal the last step on the podium.
What a way to finish the weekend!!!
